AC 2x Family of Motors
Added to the HPEVS family of motors are our NEW OIL COOLED MOTORS. The design of these motors allow for an oil to be circulated in and out of the motor via threaded ports in the end bells. HPEVS highly recommends using a Full Synthetic Transmission Fluid (ATF) that can be found at any auto parts supply shop. With the addition of an oil pump and an external oil cooler/heat exchanger, the oil can be cooled which will allow these motors to run cooler. The result is that these motors can achieve higher continuous horsepower ratings compared to air cooled motors in the industry.
These new oil cooled motors include a stainless steel frame, stainless steel shaft and anodized aluminum end bells/junction box to resists corrosion. The motors are developed around the AC-3X, AC-3Xx2 and AC-5X families and are designed with the marine industry in mind, but these motors can easily be adapted to any type of application.
Please keep in mind that this new oil cooled design was made with the marine industry in mind but it can be implemented into other types of vehicles including automotive, ground support vehicles and mining vehicles. On a marine vessel there is a constant flow of cool lake/ocean water that is supplied to the heat exchanger to cool the oil effectively. If these new systems are installed in anything other than marine, performance results may vary based on how cool the oil is returning to the motor.
